Hi the band AC/DC is using this train on their world tour and Iam trying to figure out what train it is. I believe its an old 4-6-0 steam locomotive from around the 50’s but Iam not sure. Trying to figure out what train it is exactly.
It is a 4-6-0, but it is not a prototype or a model of anything. It appears to be graphic ‘arts’ type of thing. Note the strange square block cylinders and that goofy ‘spade’ pilot.
ok thanks everybody…pretty much what I thought…I been looking for about 2 hours today and haven’t come up with anything…I few that were close but nothing exact.
It is real in that someone made a 3D prototype of it because its used in their video and you clearly see it on a track. Also their “prop” is what I have pictured here. It is actually really big and was used at their concert…so hmmmmm really weird. I guess they just wanted to be different. Oh well, thanks for the replies.
Well on one quick watch of the video, I didn’t see it. There’s some stock footage taken from a moving train (British I would guess) and a few seconds of a train’s drive wheels rolling at speed, plus footage of a staged locomotive crash. The engine in the pic seems to a US 4-6-0 but apparently was done by an artist not that familiar with trains. The valve gear is in the wrong place for example, and the pilot is stylized and wouldn’t work on a real train.
Admittedly a graphic designer has done some dramatic stylizing but am I the only one seeing a Belpaire Firebox? Looks like a Pennsy Geesomethingorother to me!
so does anyone know of a good site that I might be able to find a 4-6-0 model? Iam trying to find one for a friend. I don’t care if it is a motorized HO or not. This is only going to be a mantle piece that she will be looking at. I have looked all over the web but the prices are mostly for the HO electric jobs and are usually brand new so the prices are reflecting that…usually $100 or above. I am looking for just a model and around $25 or so.
Having seen this “train” breaking through the back of the stage from 4 rows back, it kind of looked like the AHM Casey Jones to me. If I build a model, that’s probably where I will start. Of course, it was hard to tell much about the Rock N’ Roll Train once Rosie came out to play, and then the cannons started going off…
