I’m toying with the idea of building an F2 A-unit for an FT A-B/F2 A consist and would like to try (assuming I can get my hands on one) a Highliners kit. IIRC the Highliners kits will produce any of the F-units (minus the FTs) and the shell will fit on either an Athearn or Stewart chassis.
NYC had only two F2s in their roster and the number boards were the smaller-type - like those found on their FTs. From pictures I see smallish holes in the Highliners shells for the number boards. Does anyone know if they provide both large and small number boards in their kits?
I appreciate the help, as usual. Any other tidbits about the Highliners kits are also welcome…
Thanks, Volker! [:D] Lotsa good info and diagrams that I copied & pasted in a Word.doc. And one of the diagrams does show the smaller number board so that’s a good thing.
I model the NYC and I have an FT A-B/F2 set with the F2 from the highliner kit. I think I have some left over screens and misc. I was going to make some F-7s, but Athearn came out with their Genessis F-7 A&Bs and they are essentially a highliner shell that Athearn bought and used on their Genessis units. I am work right now, but I will check soon, with time permitting.
