I don’t know if there is an answer to this but I cannot understand with the plethora of new HO models & manufacturers why noone has ever produced a good HO model of the Alco C420. With all the railroads that had these, new runs and later reruns could be had. And, some are still in service today (Arkansas & Missouri). Atlas? Athearn? P2K? …are you paying attention?
They’re closer than you know … [;)]

Do you know something reliable you can share with us?

Intermountain fine…the others…??? Never bought an Intermountain loco…got any idea what their drive trains are like?
A few years ago (probably 10 or 15) MRC teamed up with Lima to make an HO C-420, and the tooling later went to Rivarossi, who I think added a couple improvements, and they made it until they went bankrupt.
The Rivarossi models weren’t too bad. They had a good quality drive with a 5-pole motor, flywheels, metal frame, all wheel drive and all wheel electrical pickup. They also had a pretty decent shell, body mounted couplers and directional lighting. If you look, you may be able to find one on eBay for not too much (their retail was only $55).[:D]
An undecorated MRC C-420 recently sold on ebay for $153.50 !!! [:O]

I have an MRC Lehigh Valley C420 but would like to see someone come out with D&H, Red Lehigh Valley and Arkansas & Missouri units. And, best of all, some Lehigh and Hudson River Valley units!!!
There are several C420’s currently for sale on eBay, although 2 of the 6 are brass. http://tinyurl.com/yyda9u

I bought a L&N C420 (MRC) a few weeks ago for 44 dollars including shipping. It is crazy what some of them go for on ebay. I think I got lucky.

Ask and ye shall receive…some of the time! And they did both A&M and L&HR…
Now we can wait on additional schemes…LV in Cornell Red, D&H in lightning scheme and NYSW Yellow Jacket #2000…and maybe later after that, the high hood versions.
This should be a real winner for Atlas for quite a while.
Many thanks to Atlas!!
