does anyone know if they make the k5hl horn for ho scale?

Hello NS,

Forgive me but I’m trying to understand. Are you asking if the Nathan K5LA horn sound is available for your HO scale diesel locomotive or the K5H? If that’s what you’re asking, then the answer would be yes for the K5LA but not for the K5H. The K5H is also a pleasant sounding horn. It’s heavily favored in Canada.

There is a silver lining to the cloud as a good friend showed me recently. With a Lok Sound programer, he took a clean recording of a RS5TLeslie horn, edited it so that he could he upload it to his locomotive. The results were, imho, stunning. (The RS5T has a slightly deeper sounding character than the standard S5T.

The horn editing was not a quick “1-2-3” process, but from my understanding it’s not a brain buster either. There are some very good sound samples of the K5H. These have the potential to be uploaded after some good editing. You can listen on the Diesel Airhorn and 5 chime horn consultant websites. The RS5T my friend uploaded came from Diesel Airhorns.

Hopefully my friend will the info as to how he did the sound editing/looping for the horns.
