What are good sources for HO locomotive test beds? I’m thinking of a device on which I can place a locomotive to test the running gear’s operation.
I’m perfectly happy with the Bachmann ‘E-Z Rollers’ or whatever name they go by. I got mine (2 sets of four) at one of the online outlet places at a pretty good deal. I wouldn’t be without them.
Good Luck, Ed
Bachmann makes a set of four E-Z Riders Ball Bearing Rollers that the locomotive sits on. The four rollers are set on the track and draw power from the rails.

I have both the Bachmann and the Micro-Mark roller-bearing stands and they each do a good job. The only difference that I’ve found is that the Bachmann stands slide more easily along the rails, making them easy to adjust for proper spacing between individual drivers or trucks. The Micro-Mark stands tend to "lock"into the rails and adjusting the spacing is more difficult.
Depending on what locomotives you own & run, I would purchase two 4-stand sets (8, total) at a minimum and three sets (12, total) if you have steam with 8 drivers or more.

I have found the Bachmann Easy Rollers to be superb. They function as expected and are very well made.
