Over the past 2weeks I have asked for alot of advice and appreciate it. This one section of my layout Im working on right now (Will maybe have some previews this week) is KILLING ME!! I always seem to come up with a great idea or thought, and someone here has already beaten me to it and can find the weird stuff I cant find in the Walthers catalog or my LHS.
I am building Woodland Scenics Rockys Tavern. 8 Years ago when my dad and I bought the kit, Walthers Carried neon signs for certain breweriers. Schlitz, and Miller. It seems now these signs are no longer available. Are there any other manufactuers that are online Im not finding that make these neon signs for these particular brewers?
Bar mills do a very good line of neon signs and lighted signs for all different businesses, whether or not they do the ones you require I am unsure but I think they do custom signs.
Take a look at http://www.miniatronics.com - on the right hand side drop down menu look under Neon-like signs and then whatever scale you are doing HO etc. I believe these are the ones that Walthers used to offer.
You might also look here http://www.microstru.com/
Hope this helps.
These forums are great to help others, and I guess we can expect unintentional misinforamtion from time to time. This is one. Bar Mills do make signs - billboards, but they do not make neon or any type of lighted signs. Check out their site for yourself: http://www.barmillsmodels.com/
oooops , I erred, the pages in the 2005 Walters catalogue I was thinking of are 836-838 for a company called “light Works USA” dunno why I thought it was bar mills, appologies for confusion.
Its ok. I Iooked at these sites before I posted on here cause I know that sometimes Walthers will discontinue an item, and the vendor still makes it. Unfortunatly that wasnt the case for these. These were in a old catalog I want to say from 1997-1999, that I no longer possess. Somewhere around there, so its a very good possibility the company is either out of business or got bought out.
I just thought that with the help before with the Juke Box that maybe somebody knew about a Ma and Pa company that makes neon signs and such.
Thank you all I just got word when I came home today that the plans for the building (Woodland Scenincs) Rocky’s Tavern have been scrapped. My dad has tried soldering, super glue and white glue. When I cam home it was pretty solid when he used the super glue on it at 4 A.M… THen when he set it down on the work bench it went Snap, and all four walls fell down, so now its in the garbage. I might try to salvage it and use liquid nails or gorilla glue on it. This was a lesson for keeping a kit in storage for so many years!
a dry town??? thats criminal… do a search on superglue there was a thread not so long ago about adding baking soda or something to a glue to make it super strong… but I may be wrong about the specifics… again…
