Can anyone tell me about the company www.shadetreelandscaping.com ? I have sent e-mails and called the number a couple of times and no response. I really like the way their fall aspens look and was wanting to purchase some. Does anyone know of a company that produces the same kind of quality of aspens? I’m also looking for nice looking fall colored oak trees for my town. Thanks ALL!!!
P.S. I did notice on their website the copywrite is 2006
Woodland scenics has what looks like decent Aspen trees. Although the trees are in green foliage, sprinkle with yellow highlights could resemble the Aspen turning in fall. I remember travelling through the colorado Rockies a few falls ago and seeing the green pines and contrasting yellow leaves leaves of the Aspen is what caught my eye.
Shade Tree looks like a new company. They’ve got some really nice looking stuff! I’ll have to check back with them when they get that site running 100% and get some prices listed. They’re going to build a 500 sq.ft. layout and post a complete how to with videos as they build it.
Those Central Gem trees look like the Quaking Aspen we have here in MN. We have Quaking and Big Tooth as the two main species…Each a bit different, with the Big Tooth having the most greenish looking bark.
Most of the aspens in Colorado and northern New Mexico are quaking aspens, Populus tremuloides. Although I like the Grand Central Gems aspens quite a bit, I think that supertrees sprinkled with a WS yellow course turfe and highlighted with a litte bit of yellow Noch (08040) plane-leaves makes a great aspen when you want to plant lots of them. The same combination goes well for making the nice yellow and green cottonwoods (Populus sargentii - just another form of aspen) along the banks of rivers.
I have posted pictures of mine earlier but, if you like, I will do it again.
They have prices on the website now…if you select the type of tree you want, then click on the color you want, a page opens with the prices for those trees.
Thanks Don! Their prices aren’t too bad. But I have to ask, Who buys 24"-36" deciduous trees??[:O] I know pine trees can be up to 18" for an HO layout. I’d love to see some pics of those 3’ monsters!
Wow… I agree, they don’t really have the “aspen” shape. When I modeled Colorado narrow gauge I used a product called Forest in a Flash. I don’t know if they’re still in business.
But at $9.95 for only 3 trees, you’d break your budget in a hurry! One small aspen grove is a new locomotive!
Chuck, were you looking for something like these? Can’t help much. I bought them at my LHS some years ago. They were produced by some tree/scenery company, but I can’t recall the name. Mark
