HO Scale Truck Repair

Hi all-

Just picked up a fixer upper SD45 (proto 2000) at a train show, the rear truck appears to have fallen out of it’s socket. It is still hanging on by the wire to the gears.

I’ve never encountered this before and don’t know how to solve it. Anyone got suggestions?

Thanks

You need to pull the shell and see what has happened to the drive line. The second picture in this EBay ad shows the driveline.

The cover that snaps over the worm gear is what keeps the truck attached to the frame. Yours either broke, popped off, or is just plain missing.

It’s an easy part to find, if that’s what happened.

Mike.

If what Mike said is what happened you might also need the worm gear and a square bronze bushing as well as the coupling rod between the motor and worm gear.
