HO track

I just saw a ton of HO track at a yard sale for $35.00. Some of the items were 2 flex track pieces, 6-8 straight track pieces, 12 curve pieces, 4 switch pieces, and 2 rerailers and they were all in good shape. I was going to buy them but I had no place to use them. If I put a layout in my bedroom I’d barely be able to walk around in it. I might be moving soon too.[:(] At my next house I’m going ti have a layout.[swg]

$35.00 is way over-priced for a bunch of used track at a garage sale, I would think a couple of bucks would take the stuff. I have seen sectional track(n/s) go for $5.00/bundle of 12 sections at many model railroad flea markets.
If it is brass or that old Tyco steel stuff, do not even bother…

Jim

Jim is right. Used track, even code 83 Nickle silver can be had for next to nothing. The danger is that a lot of this stuff is brass, purchased 30 years ago at a premium price and now being sold by people who don’t know how little it is worth today, or hoping to find buyers who don’t know. Try some flea markets and offer people 1/4 what they are asking, but only for N/S. You will soon discover how inexpensive used track is. After you try to lay some, you will find out why. Good luck with the new layout, when ever you can start it.

The least expensive item on a layout is the track, so buy the best you can. some used track can be out of gauge because if how it was installed or taken up. wait until you really have plans for a layout then buy new.
