OK, maybe this has been kicked around recently, and I just missed it.
Anyway, this month’s (June) MR has an ad for an Overland Trackmobile, and it looks pretty good (as modern brass tends to). They mention it’s one powered axle, which only pulls 4 scale cars (no problem there - the prototypes are also limited in pulling power).
This is useful, albiet it won’t be cheap… I was in Trainland today, and saw some MDC EMC 40 Critters - What I am wondering is could a Resin or plastic trackmobile model (I think there were some on the market a few years back) be adapted to that mechanism (or heck, even the spud of decades past), so that we could have a working HO Trackmobile for under a 100 or so. (would need to be weighed with depleted uranium for traction, of course [^])
Trackmobiles are a lot smaller than the MDC 40 Critter, if this makes any difference - they are about half the size.

If I modeled the modern day I’d have one around for light work.
chutton01,
I am going to be in NYC next week adn was wondering if Trainworld’s or Trainland’s retail site was worth going to? Is it just a small storefront with a huge warehouse, or can you look at a lot of the things that they have? Thanks.
