Hobby Lobby Revell model steamer sale!!!

Stopped in Hobby Lobby today to get one of those Revell Big Boy model kits. ( 7/18/05). To my happy surprise I found out ALL their plastic model kits are
half price untill this Sat. Got the Big Boy for $10 and the NYC Hudson for $8.
Got the kits home and checked them out and their pretty nice! All the wheels roll and some of the running gear actually works. No ugly casting lines in obvious places. Really good looking detail.Fairly simple kit for a younger kid to build. They should look good around the round house I want to put on my new layout.I’ll post some pics when I get them done. All plastic kits, all sizes.
Planes, trains, trucks and autos. Killer sale till this Sat. Just wanted to pass it along.[:)]

Cool! i cannot wait to see

Don’t forget that one possible use of the Big Boy kit is to take the tender and use Bowser’s conversion kit to make it a real usable centipede tender, with metal frame and wheels that pick up power.

Thanx for the Bowser tip. I’ve never painted a steamer before.Should I paint these gloss black, apply decals and then dull coat or flat black, apply decals and then dull coat?

I have one of the older Monogram HO Big Boy kits. It really pretty much sucks. How are the updated Revell ones? Do they come painted or just black? Do they require glue? Are decals included?

By all means paint it gloss black first, apply the decals and then overspray with a flat finish. After all that is dry weather to your liking.
