Hobby shops in Fargo and Grand Forks?

Does anyone know of any good hobby shops in Fargo and Grand Forks, ND that have a good stock of N scale? We’ll be going to Fargo for a few days next month and will be passing through Grand Forks as well. An internet search didn’t turn up much. I could–and will–check the phone book when I’m there but information from someone who has actually been to these stores is much more valuable.

Make sure to make it over to the Hobby Hut in the EasTen Shopping Center ( east end of Moorhead on Main Avenue << US Hiway 10>> on the north side of the road…They stock N, HO and also Lionel three rail.phone 218-233-5590 or 888-232-5590 I enjoy visiting that store, and have gotten into some good bull sessions with other customers. Fargo-Moorhead-Dilworth have a long and colorful history as busy railroad towns. There are a couple other places in fargo also, but the newest Fargo area phone book that I have is out of date on the listings…There is a large big-box type hobby store on Thirteenth Avenue South in Fargo, but it would work best to get that info from a current phone book.

There should be at least one in Grand Forks; Hobby Town USA. their email address is

grandsforksnd.hobbytown.com 2650 32nd Ave.South is their address… phone 701-775-9400 One other thing, while in Grand Forks, there are pedestrian walks on the “Columbia Road” overpass…This overpass crosses above the BNSF yards in Grand Forks, nice view…you can park your car on a side street. Sorry, the 4-6-2 Northern Pacific Steam locomotive that was displayed in the park in East Grand Forks, MN is no longer there…It was moved to a roundhouse in Minneapolis when the river dike construction took place in the Grand Forks area…

Enjoy Your Trip BDT

St. Paul, actually. See http://www.mtmuseum.org/jsr/roster/np2153.php

My great Aunt lived across the street from that park, so I have very fond memories of that loco. I was glad to see it again at the jackson Street Roundhouse.

Thanks, BDT. Just the kind of input I was looking for.

Try Calgary, Alberta, Canada. it might be the closest one. go north young man.

Ummm, Grand Forks is 2 hours from Winnipeg, Fargo 3 hours, Calgary 2 days. I think not. Besides, I’m going to Fargo, not Calgary.
