Hobby shops in Morehead City North Carolina area

Hi all

I’m spending time in Morehead City (and also the New Bern area not far away) so would love to get any recommendations for good hobby shops in the area to visit.

I live about 30 minutes from morehead city and I can tell you that there are no hobby shops in town at all. There used to be one in New Bern, but they didn’t have much of a selection and overcharged, and quickly went out of business. If you really want to visit a decent hobby shop, there are two towards the center of the state that are good. One is Tom’s Train Station in sanford. they have a huge selection, great prices, and friendly employees. I visit there every time I can. The only other decent hobby shop I can think of is the Antique Barn in Wilson. they deal in other hobbies, but have tons of model train stuff at amazing prices.

I have a friend in Elizabeth City, NC. He owned Rivershore Models. Unfortunitely, he passed away in July, 2011. His son is carrying on the business. If you like brass at good prices, look up the website.[tup]
