Hobby store in Tucson

Thinking of getting into the hobby again, looking for a hobby shop in Tucson, AZ. Any suggestions for a place?

Thanks!

An Affair With Trains in Phoenix has a lot of Tucson customers. More so since they added a web store with deeper discounts and reasonable shipping. Might be something to consider.

The only one left in Tucson is The Hobby Place at Ace Hardware, 6959 East 22nd Street, near the intersection of 22nd and Kolb. They have Z, N, HO, O, and G scale trains.

There’s a Hobby Town on Speedway (I think that’s the street) that has very little in the way of trains.

All the others (six or so) that used to be in Tucson have closed over the years as the owners retired and no one would take over.

Practically everyone in this area relies on the web.

Thanks, I feared that there wasn’t anything down here. I was hoping that I would be closer, not farther from a hobby shop like I used to be!

Cacole, are there any clubs in the area that you know of, I’m guessing you are from the area?

I’m 70 miles SE of Tucson in Sierra Vista. There are a couple of clubs in Tucson but I have heard nothing about either one that would convince me to consider joining them, considering the distance.

There’s the Gadsden Pacific Division Operating Toy Train Museum and Southern Arizona Society of Model Engineers, neither of which I have any detailed knowledge.

Gadsden Pacific has a web site and sponsors a swap meet a couple of times each year.

The people at Ace can put you in contact with SASME if you’re interested. A couple of years ago there was a new club starting up in Tucson that, from what I heard, was dead set against DCC. The word “Hobos” was part of their name, but I don’t recall exactly what it was.
