Does anyone know anything about this coffee mug? Are hobbytown of boston mugs rare or just unheard of, or is this fake and not a ‘real’/offical hobbytown product? I
got this mug off of ebay, and nothing particularly comes up when I google “Hobbytown of Boston coffee mug”
I quite enjoy the trains that Hobbytown of Boston makes, been building kits and buying used built ones on ebay as well (all to say I know the brand, that is why I bought the mug).
Welcome on board, Neimrx_Charix.

They are a manufacturer that produced die-cast HO gauge diesel locomotives. Our predecessors said that their sturdy power units were the envy of modelers. Of course, their transmission efficiency and noise levels were not comparable to later products.
They first appeared in MR magazine in the September 1952 issue. After that, there were some twists and turns. A new website (hobbytown of Boston) was launched around 2017.
The image is an advertisement from the December 1956 issue of MR magazine.
Check out the model purchased by a Japanese modeler (The blog post part 1 & part 2).
