Holiday progress on the ACT RR

Here is what I have continued with yesterday. We had to work for the last 4 days as our second grandson Ryan Mattingly Faivre was born Wednsday evening so we were babysitters for Gavin until today.

Here are updated pictures of road construction in Valle Rojo since yesterday. I am happy with them (I hate making roads). This has been a layout hold up for some time and glad it is done. I need to remove all the buildings and start on the Unobtainium Mine at the left rear of these pictures. Once done I can start working out to the edge with scenery. Mike

Nice job on the roads Mike !!

Congrats on the new grandchild too!!!

Quick Question: What exactly are they mining for in an Unobtainium mine? [;)] Doesn’t sound too sustainable!

Sounds like the stuff they get at the Molly B. Denim mine on my layout!

Looks great. Is the junk yard scratch built or is it a kit? Mike.

Unobtainium is the rarest of all metals and is now being used by (who else) the military for secret projects unknown to us. The discovery of the metal bearing ore was explored as a result of interigation of the Roswell Aliens whos ship was thought to be made of a metal unknown by the earth but it was and is here!!![;)]

From Wikipedia, if you care:

Oakley, Inc., has trademarked the word Unobtanium to refer to a rubber compound used on the frames of their sunglasses. This compound is designed to grip the nose and temples when it becomes wet with perspiration. Due to rampant prior use of the term, US trademark laws are unlikely to protect Oakley’s claim on the word, particularly if another company chooses to use it outside of the eyewear/clothing industry. Unobtanium is also the name of an intense, sparkly color of blue glass, produced by Northstar Glass.

…so whichever you choose, looks like it’s related to eyewear.
