How do I make a hot mix plant with details?
Start with some pictures (Here) If you have a specific plant you would like to model/reference, use Google Maps or Bing Maps to get some nice aerial images to work with. Through a little research and figuring, get some general dimensions of buildings. Be as accurate as you want to be. You only need to please yourself! Break the whole plant down into separate pieces and build one structure at a time. Break large buildings/structures into smaller sub-structures.
Scratch build the structures out of styrene. Sheet styrene can be found cheaply at most hardware stores and walmart. They are hiding as “FOR SALE” signs. The larger ones are thicker than the smaller ones, so grab some of both for an assortment. Tube, Rod, and other special shaped styrene can be bought at your local hobby store or directly from Evergreen and Plastruct. When all the structures are done, prime and paint to your liking.
