House turns down amendments slashing Amtrak funding
Giving more money to a status quo government entity, will WASTE more. Tom Latham of Iowa, hmmm, did he vote for or against the route to Iowa City? I imagine a heartily argument from him would have saved the Iowa City route, after all he’s a chair of a power committee. Just sayin!
Broun seems ignorant of many facts. Amtrak has plenty of motivation to cut costs, being funded by a Congress with many conflicting views. Not a lot of passenger rails make much $$. They’ve already made cuts below what many feel is reasonable. I think they should double the budget. I think congress needs motivation to improve customer service (to American citizens) and learn proper management.
I’m sorry, I will give our House great credit for rejecting Mr. Broun’s amendments. I think Amtrak need a good budget, to maintain good service, most of the rest of the world can do it. Thank you all who rejected this amendment.
