How did you choose your forum name?

My initial use of e-bay was for obtaining pieces parts for my 1948 Ford 8N tractor and my 1972 Chevy pickup. Combined, became 8ntruck.

Still have the pickup. During our last move, we went from a 5 acre lot to a city lot - didn’t need the tractor anymore, so I traded it off to a good home. I even visit it when I’m in that neighborhood.

Mine is a carryover from registering on Evil-Bay. Everything I was trying was already taken so the more I tried the “grumpier” I got, hence “dougdagrump”. [|(]

Being a former and current resident of the great state of New Jersey, there is a lot of pride here.

The only professional sports team with New Jersey in the name are the Devils NHL team.

Being I live close to the Pine Barrens and LOVE my Hockey team, I am A NJ Devil Too (A NJ Devil 2)!

Besides Exit 8 doesn’t have much of a ring to it…[(-D]

I think we are all learning something today. Nice question.

Mine is pretty simple, AF53 comes from my fathers set, now mine. The American Flyer set number is K5345W - The Trail Blazer. It was headed by a Pacific 316 locomotive and was puchased from the 1953 catalog. I still have that catalog with his markings in it.

Lauren Lee Smith is my favorite actress. So, I chose the name LaurenFan. It means that I am a fan of Lauren.

I am in fact a male. So, I hope there is no more confusion!

Mine is a nod of respect to my Russian great-grandfather.

This is a fun thread. Great idea, Dennis.

Chicago and North Western and its year of absorption into the UP, 1995

Outside of Sodor, the North Western is still my favorite road I feel fortunate to still ride every day into Chicago and back – now coming up to 404,800 miles [:)]

Nothing fancy here;

KRM = Kevin Ray Myers

Works for me.

Thanks for asking. [:-^]

Demay is a shortened version of my last name used as my nickname growing up. My older brother’s friends used it for him first and then my friends did as well. However, his friends referred to me as Little Demay. Although, I refer to myself and sign posts with my first name.

Regards,

Joe

POTRZBE is a MAD magazine nonsense word from the fifties. I have been a MAD fan almost as long as an O gauge fan.

When grandchildren began arriving, I was Papa. It’s easier than dzia dzia (Ja ja in Polish). The “Diesel” just came about. Ergo Papa Diesel.

This is a good thread. When I got my first computer in the late 1990s I chose Cobrabob8 for my e-mail address because my car buddies would refer to me as Cobrabob. I own a 1977 Ford Mustang Cobra II with a V8. And, I also own a 1988 Mustang LX convertible with a 5.0 and 5 speed. Hence, Cobrabob8.

Cobrabob.

I"ve been known as “DJ Spanky” since the early 80’s, so what better to use as a forum name?

POTRZBE,

I too, was a fan, when younger and I have a magazine with the cover resembling a ‘Composition’ note book.

My collection is mostly from the MPC era when I was kid. So now that I am getting back into it, the focus of my layout will be this era as well.

“Potrzebie” means “the need for” in Polish.

Bob,

I won’t ask what Duad - - - means.

My wife who is half Ukranian, calls me that!

Ralph

It’s my name. I’m named after a great king Bali Maharaj who ruled over a vast kingdom but surrendered everything to serve the Lord. He continued to rule, but with a more saintly, spiritual attitude. Not like…well um, that’s a whole nother discussion.

So my name means “one who gives everything”. Recently some of my Haitan classmates told me in Haitian, my name means “charitable”. The island Bali is named after Bali Maharaja. das meanns “servant of”, so Bali das means “servant of the servant of the Lord”.

V8 Vega, I belong to a V8S10 forum. One of our members in Orlando, in his formative years, dropped a 427 into a Vega and proceeded to build quite a reputation. For the last 2 years, he’s been building another V8 Vega for the strip for his boss.

I have been a Lionel postwar fanatic for years, starting in the early '50s (like just about every kid I knew) . Back then, toy trains were just that, TOYS. . I kept my original set for years and when I had the financial wherewithall, I started accumulating much more, until by the mid 80’s , I had a substantial collection. I had several layouts, and bought and sold to obtain what I felt was the ultimate collection. (There’s no such thing as the ULTIMATE collection, since there is always something that one needs to add, but I was satisfied that I had all I needed). I thoroughly enjoyed attending train meets, putting ads in the newspapers seeking Lionel trains, bartering with people for a fair price, etc., etc. In the '90s, my interest started to wane, so I ended up selling my collection to a dealer. Before I let it go, my wife said, and I quote, “you’re going to regret selling a collection that you spent so much time on.” My smug reply was “oh no I won’t, I’ve had my fun with it–time to move on.” Well, about two weeks, two days, two hours, two minutes and two seconds later, I came to realize my wife was right. Once the love of trains “gets into your blood” it’s impossible to shake the disease. So, I started from scratch, going to auctions, using word of mouth, etc., etc., and have managed to gather pretty much the same postwar equipment I had in my first collection, and then some. So, I’m IN IT AGAIN. Right now, though, everything is in boxes, because we just remodelled our basement, and I’m battling with my wife for space to set everything up again. So I’m IN IT AGAIN with her as well.
