How do I get by rail from LAX to Laguna Beach?

I’m usually good at deciphering timetables, but I do not see any way to accompli***his via commuter or Amtrak, so I am asking for help from those of you who live in the area.

Thanks

You don’t get there by rail. Close as you get is via the San Diegans and getting off at San Juan Capistrano, Irvine or Galivan and working your way up or over to the coast.

The railroad north of Capistrano turns inland from the beach on its way to Fullerton.

…and I no longer line there even though I knew the line well, especially in the dark, before Santa Fe sold it and while it did the initial passenger line upgrades for SanDag/Orange County.

Closest your going to get on Jamtrak is San Juan Capistrano
Laguna Beach is a couple miles up the coast from there but its closer than Irvine

At LAX take the Green Line Shuttle bus to the Green Line station

Green line EAST to the Blue Line
Blue Line NORTH to the Red Line
Red Line EAST to Union Station,
Amtrack San Diegan to San Juan Capistrano

I guess after that you’d need a taxi or better have someone to meet you up there.

Green Line platform interchange with Metrolink at Santa Fe Springs not happening?

You might be better off takeing the taxi the whole way, especially if you have a bunch of luggage to deal with. A couple years back I took a taxi from LAX to Santa Clarita. It cost $40 bucks but it was worth it not to have to take a bus. You might also consider flying into John Wayne airport, it’s much closer.

Ironically from today’s Newswire (of all places[:D]):

New Los Angeles train station-airport bus service to begin

LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles World Airports, the governing agency for four southern California airports, announced it is expanding its FlyAway bus operation to include non-stop service between Los Angeles Union Station and Los Angeles International (LAX), starting March 15. Travel between Union Station to LAX is expected to take 35 to 45 minutes. Each bus seats 50 passengers.

Between 5 a.m. and 1 a.m., buses will depart every 30 minutes (on the hour and half hour), with hourly service between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. One-way adult fares will cost $3, a monthly pass $60.

As a special promotion, Amtrak and Metrolink commuter passengers, from March 15 through March 31, with valid tickets may ride the Fly Away bus for free from the railroad station to the airport. The buses will depart from Union Station’s Patsaouras Bus Plaza, Berth 9, and make stops at each airline terminal.

Los Angeles World Airports owns and operates Los Angeles International Airport, Ontario International Airport, Palmdale Regional Airport, and Van Nuys Airport.

As far as I know the Green line stops at the 605 freeway interchange with the 105 fwy, well short of SFS or the Metrolink, unless theres a shuttle bus of some sort.

Thanks, guys. Not the news I wanted to hear, but I really appreciate the info.

rent a car ! you cannot do L.A. without a car.
