how do you replace track inside a tunnel?
Great question.
Hopefully, you would have designed the tunnel with a liftout section behind it or with some sort of accesspanel or removable scenery. If you didn’t, then either daylighting or using a crow bar or cutting thru the scenery with a sawzall.
In the future, minirobots will easily do this type of task

I assume you don’t have direct access built into your layout? If this is the case, I’m afraid you will have to cut into and remove sections of the area to get access. Then I’d find a way to design future access in case something like this occurs again.
For those of you designing layouts with tunnels - ALWAYS make sure to have access to the entire length of any tunnel. If it isn’t a track problem, it will be a car derailing in there.
Errrrrrrrrrr. That’s a doosy. You may have to destroy some scenery to get access to the track.
I once had a problem with the fixed radius sectional track in a relatively short tunnel. I was able to loosen and remove the track by prying it up and pulling from each end. I then soldered the replacement sections to make a solidly connected semi-circle of track which I was able to work through the tunnel and connect at both ends. With the solid connections it stayed put fine.
Another time a derailment caused bigger problems and I had to cut an access through the scenery and place it back later.
I turned my tunnel into a cut. It actually looked better after all was said and done
Hi
if you put proper access in the tunnel no problem
If you did not then you ar going to have to take the top of the mountain off with a saw fix the track then re build the mountain with proper access.
