Can someon who owns this locomotive tell me the quality, performace, and anything about it? I saw a really good deal and I want to give it to my brother, who’s fleet is running a bit thin.

Is it Bachmann or Bachmann Spectrum? If it’s the former, it’ll probably be on the dodgy side.
I’m not familiar with this particular model – is it new or something old off of e-Bay. If new, even if it’s the cheaper Bachmann Standard line, they have improved immensely over the past year or two and run almost as good as a Spectrum.
If it’s an old model off of e-Bay, I’d pass it up.
EDIT: I Googled Bachmann B23/B30-7 and saw that it is a new Standard line model. Even so, it should run just as well as a Spectrum. $41.00 (plus shipping) from Toy Train Heaven.
Ok. I’m not worried about detail, that can be improved when he gets older. Just the drive’s performance.
The B23s use the same drive as all of the current Standard line 4 axle diesels. I don’t have the B23, but I do have the FT-A and GP30, and both are extremely smooth runners.[:D] The B23 has flywheels which make it even better. The old Plus line ones from the 90s were pretty light in weight, but I think the new ones are nice and heavy.
