Still with the useless polls I see.
Weelll I usually spend around $850, but whos counting. I spent around $200 each time to the hobby store most of the time, so the yearly tally might be a little more, give or take!

I have nearly 15 months in the hobby, and my complete expenditures total CDN $5,500. I plan on another $300, or so, this year (some Walthers heavyweights, a sheet of 5/8" ply, a sheet of 1" foam, and the odds and ends I’ll need to revamp my track plan over the next three months). Other than that, I am in replacement-as-it-breaks-mode…thank goodness.
Sure was a wild ride while it lasted, though. Now I can just enjoy what I have.

Well, considering I’ve spent in the neighborhood of $2,000 since Christmas alone, I think I qualify for Other! Being single has some advantages.
All I have. If I get a little job, I spend a little more. My first HO layout cost $47. I spent a little more on this one. just added DCC.
Since Christmas I have spent 2183.10. I keep good records.

Interestingly, the average of all the replies so far is in the area of $1,000 per year. If taken as representative, this is essentially the same figure derived by MR surveys back in the 1980’s, in spite of the declining value of the dollar. It would thus appear from the very limited survey here that modelers are spending less real dollars today on the hobby than previously, while the price of items have increased dramatically over the same period. Indeed, food for thought.
