Hi everyone,
I am looking for the Rivarossi/AHM O gauge 0-8-0 IHB loco kit, are they still made? If not, how much should I pay for one on the second hand market/ebay?

Stephen.

They aren’t particularly good runners from what I remember. Last one I saw many years ago was $75.00. You would be much better off with one of the ATlas diesels in O gauge in my opinion.
I have one at home, runs as good as a brick.
I’m going to replace mine with a BLI this year.
I’m looking for a boiler front if anyone has any extra (mines missing the
preheater tank and bell) I’m thinking of making a shelf display with mine.
Thats what I intend to do with mine! I want to have a model of a withdrawn loco on my next On30 layout, but do not really want to purchase a RTR loco, so the IHB 0-8-0 seems like the purfect option, unless anyone else has any ideas?
Regards,
Stephen.
Well if all you want is a static display it came in that version also which I have built. That I would reccomend and it is definitely cheaper than the operating version but I can’t give you a current price.
20 bucks for a non motorized kit, up to 100 for one that runs and looks good.
Huh? I didn’t realize BLI make O-scale locomotives other than the C-16. Where is some info about them? I can’t find any on their website.
I disagree. I would say $60-100 for a kit, and $200 for the motorizing kit for it. Notice the number of bids for these:

There are a lot of people who want them.
CubianRailways,
I would guess to match the vintage of the On30 stuff a 4-6-0 might be a better choice and cheaper too.

Hi Texas,
I did not realise that a 4-6-0 was also produced, so now it looks like I might have to try and get my hands on both the 4-6-0 and the 0-8-0!
With regard to the vintage of the locos, I modelling Cuban railways so everything is vintage or canabalised, so either loco with a bit of modification will suit my On30 stuff. My intended layout will be based around one of the sugat mills in Cuba, where the Standard gauge lines have been abandoned and the narrow gauge are now prefered. There are a few mills like that still in existance, so hopefully a another ‘field trip’ to Cuba will take place next year!

Hello All,
Just picked up an unmade kit of the 0-8-0 for $57! Its not motorized, but that fine by me.
Now, does anyone know where would be the best place to purchase a set of pony wheels/pilot frame for it, to make it a 2-8-0?
Regards,
Stephen.
$57 is about right for a non-motorized kit. Triple that for a motorized version (unless it’s a basket case). Same for the Ten Wheeler. The 4-4-0, however, will go for much, much more, especially if it’s one of the RTR versions (all three were made RTR, too). Kits assembled (especially if basket cases) will be worth about 25% less if complete.
For a static dosplay, you can fabricate a pony truck easily enough.
I have a Casey Jones 4-6-0 still in the box and unbuilt if anyone is interested.
I have an unbuilt unmotorized Casey Jones 4-6-0 still in the box if anyone is interested. I want at least 75.00 for it though. That is about what it cost me a few years back…
Hi There,
Further to my last few posts on this subject, does any one have any photographs of their built O gauge IHB 0-8-0? I’d just like to see if anyone has added anything to their model, or found ways of improving the kit etc? Are there any parts of the kit that are a little tricky that I need to be warned about?
With Kind Regards,
Stephen.
