How to contact "o-gaugeforum.com" without being a member

I wanted to get suggestions from folks at “o-gaugeforum.com” about selling my pre-war items (just I’ve done here). However, my request for membership was rejected in a noreply email without any explanation or method for contacting anyone there. I’d like to find out why – I don’t know that I have any “black marks” anywhere.

I take it you are not familiar with how that Forum came to be in existence. As an S gauger it means nothing to me since it is an O gauge only Forum. One of their founding members recently left O gauge and is now in N gauge. It appears the powers in charge are giving him a free pass to still post.
Take it that they have done you a favor and move on.

A great many forums and groups have strict bans on ‘commercial’ activity (buying, selling, advertising) and usually say so in their TOS. I would not be surprised to find this group is one such, and that they summarily rejected your participation ‘for cause’.

Actually it was the opposite. The founding members took offense at the policies of other forums that limited their free speech. Several were kicked off some other forums, so they founded their own where they could unilaterally and somewhat arbitrarily set all the rules, be the sole enforcers, and block anyone they did not want as a member.

They certainly seem to have done that.

The weird part is that they rejected me without knowing anything about me. All they ask for is an email and password – no questions about my interests or experience level. They had no idea why I was trying to join. Oh, well, sounds like it was actually no loss for me. The folks on this forum have been great.

Hi, my name is Bill, and I’m a recovering O-scaler.

I used to post on the O-gauge magazine’s forum, it has good info on scenery and other things not scale specific. About 4 or 5 years ago, they changed the rules to say you can’t be on the forum if you aren’t a subscriber to magazine (print or digital). So I was blocked from that point on - can still read, but not reply or post.

It’s far simpler than all that speculation and politicing. They refuse participation to anyone who doesn’t subscribe to their magazine. That’s it. I, for one, am glad the folks at Kalmbach didn’t, and now Firecrown doesn’t believe in the “Pay For Say” mentality when it comes to expressing opinions of the hobbies their magazine titles cover.

The o-gauge forum is not the same as the ogr forum.

I know nothing about the o-gauge forum; I know too much about the ogr forum. I will leave it at that.

Well, I guess it’s nice to be rejected. :slightly_smiling_face:

The OP was not referring to the OGR Forum. He specifically said the o-gaugeforum.com. It is a different forum.

I for one completely missed that. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. :folded_hands:

That’s a private group if I recall correctly, made up of expelled OGR forum members and you have to be vetted by a current member to join. I was asked to join but I completely forgot and lost the invitation. :woman_shrugging:
