how to elevate??

Hello.

I have a layout I am in the process of building in my attic and one thing that I would like to do that is stumping me at the moment is to superelevate the track on the corners/turns.

I was wondering if anyone here on the forums has done this, has any experience with it, or has heard of it/how to do it? I would like to superelevate the track on the corners/turns because I have grandkids who come over and like to run the trains but sometimes they get a little carried away and run them a little fast. with super elevated (elevated and slightly curved/turned) corner track sections I wont have to worry about them running the train right off the corner due to excessive speed.

Also, if anyone knows what material/materials should be used for this job I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for any help.

You ca put styrene strips under the ties at the outside of the track in the curves to lift up the outside. You will also need to cut the inside rail shorter so the track will stay down better on the inside. I also think that you are going to have to fasten the track down at the inside of the track to hold the bank.

BUT - I don’t think that will completely stop the loco from shooting off the track at high speed. If you have DCC, program the top speed to be lower in all your locomotive decoders.

Hey! Two threads on the same topic? And by the same O.P.?? [:-^] Perhaps one of the Moderators could merge the two so that the answers would all be in the same spot. [swg]

I posted a reply in the other one, and to save having to search, you’ll find it here:
