Hello all, I’ve received many requests on how I post my photos with magnification. Below you can see how, from start to finish.
Create a dedicated folder in google drive. I called mine “NCT”
Turn on “Link Sharing” for the folder.
Upload your photo to the folder, click on it, and click “Open in New Window”.
In the new window, click on “Embed Item”
In a forum post, click on “Source Code”.
Paste your copied embed code here!
And that’s it. No one will ever understand how confusing it was for me to make this tutorial with screenshots while actually doing the tutorial to get the photos on the forum… [(-D]
I don’t know what causes it but your posts cause your messages to lock up my Iphone along with them being too wide for the screen so I cannot read them. By the way you are not alone with the messages being to wide there are a couple of others that have the same problem but they don’t lock up the IPhon.
Thank you so much for that excellent tutorial on how you post your pictures!! I’m used to doing it the old way by using Imgur or Photobucket, but I will definitely explore your method.
I appreciate everyone’s opinions, but the only reason I made this tutorial was for the folk who specifically requested it. I only use this method because I find it very easy to upload photos from any device, anywhere, and I have unlimited Drive storage through my school. Otherwise, disregard this…
Thanks very much Harrison for showing how to do this.
Regarding the problem of screens getting locked, unable to scroll, etc.:
I’ve encountered this on other websites (even major newspapers) when viewing an image that in some way is interactive (e.g., click to enlarge, click the state on the map to see its data, etc.). At least in my experience it’s partly a device dependent problem–in the case of Harrison’s photos, some devices work fine, others seem to lock up if I try to swipe the image to move up or down the thread.
But: if you can see the slightest bit of margin around the image (sides, top or bottom), swiping in the margin area, and not the image, works well, at least for me. So it seems it’s not really the entire page that is locked and unable to scroll, but rather that scrolling doesn’t work if attempted from within the image itself. But if the image covers the entire screen, as reported by some, then the problem remains, as there’s no margin in which to swipe.
I’ve been with photobucket for quite a few years, and if I post pictures on this site, all the viewer needs to do is right-click on the image to enlarge it, although it won’t fill the screen.
I appreciate the effort, Harrison, but for me every single one of the photos in your tutorial is a blank Google square that says “Sorry, the file you have requested does not exist. Make sure that you have the correct URL and the file exists.” Did you remove the tutorial photos?
