Hudson & North Hudson Wi

On my way home from Hudson I ventured down streets closer to the St. Croix river. From downtown Hudson I drove closer to the river and saw one old building that has bricks stored on the outside. It looked very much like it came from the Steam era.

Then I drove west from where the UP rr bridge crosses over the main drag at the north end of Hudson. The old bridge going to North Hudson is still there. Rails are gone but the UP still has no tresspassing signs once you get up close to the bridge. Then I drove to North Hudson and turned west where there is now a stoplight. There seems to be quite a few large buildings from the CNW shops still there in use. I think most of it is for storage and maybe some of it is empty. Some buildings still have the wooden rounded top doors. Others have those same type of openings and windows filled in with brick. I had no idea so much of those buildings were still in existence. If only I had a Delorean with a flux capacitor I’d be there right now.

The North Hudson area was the ‘Omaha’ shops(they were a seperate railroad before being leased/bought by the C&NW). South of the mainline the ‘wye’ was the beginning of a branch line to Ellsworth, WI. There was/is a wood depot in downtown Hudson that has been a private commercial enterprise for some time.
