I love this hobby!

Hello, all - I have nothing important to say except that I LOVE THIS HOBBY!!!

I am able to express my creativity as well as let my “inner child” out. I’m an amateur musician from the Burnsville, MN area and I’m havin’ a BALL!!! Are you??? I LOVE to build structures and create scenes as well; track laying and motive power/rolling stock aren’t my strong suit, but I love 'em as too.

Alllrightythen!!! Yes I agree. Awesome hobby. I’m returning from my younger days, and it’s been a hell of a ride so far with my new layout. I’m so obsessed right now the only thing I can think of is working on this project. When I get home from work, I eat, relax a bit, then get to layin’ track for at least a couple of 3 hrs.

And I’m going to my first train show on saturday (WGH Denver), and I get paid tomorrow, so plenty of cash to spend it all on saturday.

After 55 years in the hobby I think its became nothing but,a habit…[%-)]

But, by golly I can’t think of a better habit…[tup]

Yeah, me too.

Turns out what I love the most was completely and totally unexpected-- how much fun I have spending time with my kid (and kids when the other one is a little older) running trains and “working on the layout”. It is cute and amusing and rewarding to hear my 2-1/2 yo say “I wanna go work on the lay-out”, or look at my wife in that matter-of-fact all-knowing sorta way and say “we’re gonna go work on the lay-out”. We have a blast setting up track and running trains together. And he’s really good with the throttle too.

After all the bickering about which DCC system is best, or even if DCC is best, or which loco is better (ad nauseum) this is what it all comes down to. Nice to be reminded about it once in a while. Have fun and loose your worries on the railroad.

I am going on my 6 th year and still enjoy it. Not quite as much as when I first got started, I finally figured out where the trains are going! [:-^]

Really? As I recall from your early posts, you weren’t enjoying the hobby much at all for awhile when you first started! [swg]

Things did get better, though didn’t they?

After 30+ years in the hobby myself, I still love it, too! Not in all the same ways as my first decade or so, but in some old ways and some newer ways as well. As I’ve aged and my outlook has changed over the years, my enjoyment changes as new facets open up and older ones change. Maybe that’s what makes Model Railroading so great.

Been in it for 17 years, since I was 6 years old…and lovin’ it. As far as addictions go, I suppose it’s one of the healthier ones…[:-^]
