Model Railroader magazine's 2009 Layout "Progress"

Hey Guys,

Glad to see the tradition of the Progress - which was coined by Bob Hayden - is still alive and well! I always looked forward to it!

Take care,

Marty McGuirk

One of these days I will build my layout, modeling the CSX line. I enjoy seeing what others have done so I may use the same on my layout. Good work, love your layouts. Thankyou!

I hate you guys. How do you manage to keep everything so nice and tidy. My “netherworld” is a mess. :frowning:
Seriously though, beautiful stuff.

Leo.

THAT’S IS VERY EXCELLENT DETAIL. IT LOOKS LIKE ALOT OF TIME AND EFFORT WENT INTO CREATING THAT LAYOUT. I WHIS THAT WAS MY HO SCALE LAYOUT LOOKING LIKE THAT. MARVELOUS WORK GUYS. I TAKE MY HAT OFF TO YOU.

Cool looking layouts, thanks for letting us visit. Keep it coming.

Marlin

nice layouts…im a beginner…ho .my layout is about 12 x 16ft

2 tracks…200 buildings…i tried to go with the 60s-70s era.

i have manuel sound mrc…not dcc

i have many steam and diesels…and a tressel…and a mountain pass…im working on a swing up gate…i hate duck unders

id like to patent my idea…so i dont want to describe it.

but it would eliminate duck unders…they suck.

I’m new to model building, but what I see looks very good to me

REAL NICE!

I enjoyed the tour. Thanks. I would have liked to see more.
Is there a published trackplan of the Cajon Pass layout anywhere?

Looks like a fun day. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Good work and talent make for a great railroad. Good job.

David, I’m beginning an expansion of my N scale layout also. Does it cause just a little anxiety when you start any expansion? I just have to buckle it up and start! Yours sure looks good! I’ll be peeking in once in awhile to see your progress. Niel, what encouraged your son to go N scale? Mine was limited space. I really enjoyed seeing all your layouts, perhaps it will come on video later, as I saw Cody doing a video in one scene. Nice show guys! I feel like you all are my next door neighbor. Ron jeys

I love the look of autumon the New Have N Guage makes me hope I can find the tome to make enough ffor my lay out. I would like to put in my vot for a video /dvd also great work

Kent; I remember from a few years back when you started your layout…at least that’s when I thought you started…WOW! It’s really looking great…very clean lines…congrats and nice job.

I model the Soo line in HO. I know someone on your staff also models the soo. Can you someday run a article on his layout,? i would love to see the track plan, and any pictures thanks.

Nice work guys! I hope this is a regular feature.

Thanks for sharing your own home layouts. It is nice to see what everyone is doing. Keep up the good work! -Tony

Too bad the resolution on the photos is so low. Hard to make out any detail, at all. Videos are nice, but again you can’t get any decent resolution with them.

It was good to see how Andy Sperandeo’s Sante Fe layout is coming along. This looks set to be a terrific layout. I know MRR always likes to have complete end to end series on layouts but wouldn’t it be great to have an occasional section in the mag on ‘how far we’ve got…’ where we can see layouts in the process of being built and articles on problems faced and overcome. After all, our involvement in this hobby is ongoing and it takes us all a long time to build layouts. Every part is a story and maybe MRR should reflect the ongoing part of the hobby. (Which is probably all of it!)
Tony Koester has been building for years… it would be good to see his layout.
Good stuff MRR.

Nice mix of layouts that the staff has. A lot of very interesting designs & ideas.
I enjoy the newsletter, keep up the good work.
