Hi Guys,
i love watching your layout on the web on the new letter i get by email.
you have a some real talent at your disposal to make that layout look as nice and as realistic as possible.
i belong to 2 rr clubs and only one of the two has even come remotely close to your set, and even that could do with some updating. and i particularly like the video’s that show the new trains and engines that are coming out and soon to be available for the model railroader to purchase.
always good information and interesting content on your site.
keep it up

At 66 years I am a late starter to the hobby (Ho scale) and while I have several mates that have been in the hobby since our teens, I never showed any intrest untill my grandson 8 years old got a train set and I am hooked. Thanks for the information in your Mag and Video and layouts. keep up the great work
Kind regards Tommy
Great to see what others are doing, in any and all Scales. It is all the same wonderful Hobby that we share with others. I would second the request for Andy’s Cajon Pass Layout Track Plan. I live a few short miles from the Pass, and would like to see how he captured it at an earlier time, before they daylighted the tunnels.
Really cool! Those are some great layouts. At 12 years old, I am still in the layout planning stage for my own layout, but I’ve got the basic idea. Plus, I recently got an N gauge 4-6-0 steam locomotive chassis ($50 reduced from $169 in a sale! Wow!), and I was wondering if you could give me some hints on building the body. My e-mail adress is axle@inspire.net.nz.
Cheers,
Alex Charleston.
All great layouts. Kents 3 rail was looking very good with the hi-rail scale look. I liked Jim Kelly’s N Scale layout- it would be nice to see more detailed pictures of this layout (all the layouts would be nice to see).
very nice,I like check the backdrop area. Thanks again
The layout tour video was great fun. There are few joys nicer in life than visiting a model RR in the basement, especially on a snowy day.
And the in the car shots made me feel that I was in the auto, along for the ride.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks to all of you at MR and Kalmbach. This is a great thing to share with all in this hobby. I’ve been modeling for 35 years, and have completely torn down my last layout, and have started modeling the Central Junction located in Savannah, GA., both in HO and N scale, to give a “forced perspective” of the diamond crossings just north of the Savannah SCL Passenger Station, where I grew up and railfanned every weekend. I like seeing how others go about their designing and benchwork. It’s always opens up fresh new ideas, and helps in the redesigning the layout I’m now building. A great tour, guys! Wayne Walden
It’s looks good !Congratulation !!!
Long time reader and Layout DERAMER…
Nice jobs on ALL the layouts.
Unemployment has put a halt to any dreams of building a layout now.
arnt these in the layouts of 09?
Good to see other peoples layouts.Im currently building my first american layout after modeling the uk scene for many years.I look forward to watching the progress or your layouts.
i’m rebuilding agine my 10 by 14 layout will a loging layout with sea harber from 1868 . Every time i see all the loyouts i get new ideas so i get to rebuild one more time thanks guys
Enjoying the tour very much.Good to see what you blokes get up to when you’re away from the office.Talk about a bus driver’s holiday!
Was amused by the pic of Steve Otte’s tortoise machines under his staging.Real tortoises lay their eggs in the sand but obviously the machines lay them in wire nests under layouts.
Just a note to Alex Charleston (12) of NZ (as an old kiwi to a young one). You’re entering the hobby at it’s most exciting time. The best thing you can do is join a club if you can find one near you, even if you have to do it online. This is where you will get hands on advise and help.See if you can contactSelwyn Bennett of Dunedin, his is the 6th comment below yours.Maybe MR will be able to help you.
Also to Thomas Crozier of Victoria here in OZ,same advise about the club, and don’t worry about the age thing,I’m only getting back into the hobby after 40 years and the 2 best things I’ve done is join one (AMRA Qld)and subscribe to MR.
You might feel a bit over whelmed at first when you see what others have achieved but get involved, help out, volunteer with working bees or any shows or open days. The only regrets you’ll have is that you didn’t do it sooner,So get to it!
Awesome Job guys, love the layout tours, keep up the good work!
It’s wonderful to get an inside look at the layouts. I personally enjoy seeing David Popp’s ‘Naugatuck’ layout. Once idea I’ve had is to shoot a video of different layouts, either staff layouts or layouts visited in the magazine, and post the video online. Each video would be a short look at the layout, a little commentary from the owner.
Thanks for shring with us. I always enjoy seeing what David has done to his layout, I can relate to a layout that size. Would love to see some more of Andy’s layout, being a Santa Fe fan myself!
A journey to be proud of to show exquisite detail and building techniques that help all of us Railroad enthusiasts.
It was very interesting seeing the different progress you have made on the layouts and I enjoyed it very much and am looking forward to seeing more as you go along. I have seen quite a few interesting projects that I might like to encooperate on to my own layout. My layout is only 10 feet by 14. Looking forward to seeing more.
From the cold country canada
P.S. I worked on the Canadian National Railway for 10 years in Central Ontario Canada.
Layouts are informative. Every layout I look at give me more insight as to what can be done.
It is enjoyable for me to read other peoples comments. I am also amazed at the number of modelers in other countries.
Keep up the good work.
