For a little comic relief, head over to the trains forum, and watch Micheal Sol and others play whack-a-mole with each other on the threads titled “Open Access Paradise” and variants.
Which forum is this on? I cannot find it. Mike
In the “forum jump” drop-down menu at the lower right, below this window, scroll down to trains magazine forum and hit “go”. These are folks who enjoy keeping up with real-world railroading, and it can be pretty funny…acrimonioius…but funny!
Ah, thanks for that Crandell. That thread is entertaining. I also stumbled into a couple of threads over there that confirm for me that some people really will believe anything!
Nothing like surviving a hot summer day inside, in the a/c, with a cold glass of iced tea, watching a few folks take things just a bit too seriously!
Reminds me of a guy I used to work with. He’d find two people who were polar opposites on something and lure them to the coffee pot at the same time, then bring up the subject in question. 90 seconds later he’d come back into our work area shaking his head saying “That’s terrible. Somebody really ought to do something about that.”
Mark, I check out this forum, easily the most political of the bunch at Trains.com, on a daily basis. Michael knows his stuff (he is an academic, I believe), while the others can’t resist baiting him or Future Modal with political satire masquerading as informed opinion…and robust contrariness.
It is funny how people will see completely different things in the same bit of information.
If you have a couple of hours to kill sometime, scroll back several pages now, (don’t wait long or it will get truly buried) probably to last week, and look for the thread dealing with Milwaukee Road. It goes on forever, and you can hear the high blood pressure and rage in some of the posts…it’s hilarious! Michael, bless him, holds well against the mob. And what a mob it is!!!
