Illinois bridge problem prompts CSX reroute

Should be about 170 or so from Indianapolis West to Vandalia Illinois.

Vandalia moved east to Indiana because like most of downstate, the residents are fed up with socialist corruption from Chicago running the rest of the state into the hole. Now all that remains is to inform Rand McNally about the change.

I don’t know about the milepost but Vandalia is only around 60 miles ENE of E. St. Louis

Guse:

You are truly NUTS! When will you just SHUT UP? You contribute a absolutely NOTHING.

Pretty hard to stay on topic, isn’t it mr Guse?

csx. wasting money on the gateway projects instead of replacing bridges.

Please keep your feedback thoughtful, on-topic and respectful. Offensive language, personal attacks, or irrelevant comments will be deleted. Your own rules - so why are Guse’ s irrelevent and off topic comments allowed.

How old is this bridge? There’s a lot of bridges out there sitting on one hundred plus year old piers. Plus the fact we’ve had above normal rainfall in this area that could’ve contributed to underscoring them.

Reroute on the Illinois sub via Salem. Not sure if they are using UP to St Elmo or taking sub all the way to Vincennes Indiana. The old C&EI between Terre Haute and Vincennes is busy with container traffic for SE. The 2 tunnels in Indiana Sub can’t take double stacks between Vincennes and Seymour, otherwise they would take it through.

Is guse even a railroader? If not leave the retoric up to us who know a thing or two about railroading.

…sez the man from Illinois whose farmers accept “socialist government” handouts to grow corn to produce ethanol I don’t want in my gas tank but am forced to buy.

Without all the attitude, Mr. Guse is partly right! Unless you live in Illinois, you don’t know what we are taking about. The “Gridlock” in Washington, D.C. is a walk in the Park compared to Illinois corruption. Consider these facts:

  1. Only state to have 2 Governors in Prison at the same time.
  2. Only state to have over 5 Congressman quit before they were indicted in Federal Court.
  3. The State Assembly has been all Democrats for forever, at least 30 years now.
  4. The State is over 6 Billion in debt, only California has more. The current Governor ran on the promise of NOT raising the State Income Tax, got elected and raised it 6%.

The people who have jobs have to keep working so everybody else can receive the Obama Food Stamps. The U.S. route that runs through my little town hasn’t had a “paved” road for the 44 years I have lived here. It gets a little hard after a while and the Governor keeps wasting money we don’t have. In regards to the bridge, I hope the State can somehow correct/fix it. Roger C.

Mr. Converse is right concerning Illinois but off base on “Obama food stamps.” Food stamps preceded the present administration and will go on long after Pres. Obama is out of office. His comment on this subject has nothing to do with the bridge that requires repair. Stick to railroading. I’d be more interested in knowing the exact re-routes that CSX is/was using.

Why would the state of Illinois repair CSX’s bridge?
