Illinois community approves agreement for new Amtrak station
cool we will see sounds like good deal
The agreed location for the station is downtown, not out on Coyne Station Road. This is potentially bad news for Illinois Railway Museum, which owns ROW extending to Coyne Station Road, but in reality, having the station there probably would not have helped the museum anyway.
Hold your joy till Bruce decides,
I fear all the money the state has spent on Chicago-Rockford Amtrak service will be money down the drain with Bruce Rauner as Governor (also Chicago-Moline).
Bruce said he favored Amtrak expansion during one of the primary debates. We will see.
Chicago-Rockford Metra = Yes. Chicago to Dubuque Amtrak = No. Moline to Danville Amtrak = Absolutely not
Rauner will probably veto the project ,likes more cars on the newly expanded interstate.
rauner will be told what to do by democrats in Illinois legislature who can override any veto in both houses.
Teabaggers are making a partisan issue out of transportation. it’s toll roads vs. passenger trains. Time will tell if the new IL governor is telling the truth or not.W’e ll see if it he directs it to the GREEDway project of the Illiana turnpike instead.Let’s not forget about that airport in Peotone,(Joliet).
