Does anyone know if the Illinois Northern is running extra trains of fracing sand on its line between Ottawa Il and Eola yard in Aurora. This past week I’ve seen a train waiting to enter the BNSF in Montgomery during daylight hours. I know they’ve run to Eola during the night as long as I’ve lived in the area. I’m wondering if they are making the move during daylight hours or if they are adding extra trains due to the increased demand for the frac sand. Any info would a great help.
Illinois Northern?? I thought it was Illinois Railway. I’ve seen a couple fairly long trains heading out of town in the afternoon this week, but I couldn’t tell you if they were extras. The majority of their business down here seems to be at the sand pit but they do still send a couple small trains a week down to Streator.
You’re correct, it is the Illinois Railway. I think the Illinois Northern was a previous incarnation. Thanks for the info.
Before they were Illinois Railway they were Illinois Railnet, but I wouldn’t have been surprised if they had changed their name again and I hadn’t heard about it yet.
