Im confused now i just got a email saying this site has a gift shop and i got a 100 dollar gift card...... this is spam right?

i have no idea anymore looks official ive never heard of any company giving out free gift cards so idk even says its by firecrown

Is the card number four groups of four alphanumeric characters, mostly capital Gs, Xs and Cs? That’s what the ‘genuine’ numbers looked like.

no just a link to their store one says u were a top contributer 50 doller gift card i think firecrown is spamming me i never once heard of a company giving out a reward for having a lot of posts on a forum especially money

It’s for real. If in doubt, go to the Store, pick out what you want and enter the gift card number. The items you picked will be shipped to you.

It’s real.

Ditto! It is real, I have had three $100.00 gift cards so far.

That was a legitimate amount in past months, but they changed the program. The key is that the gift card will have a number, which is to be entered on the store Web site at checkout – he is not saying he has any such number in his e-mail, just a link – which could easily be malware if he clicks it.

What was the sender’s e-mail address? (Use “at” and “dot” to keep it from being autorendered as clickable… I originally said to use angle brackets but they don’t format correctly in posts.)

First, I got an email from Angela Cotey saying to be on the lookout for a gift card. The email was titled Trains.com Forum Reward.

Later, I got an email from Trains.com Store with the gift card and activation number.

I got one too (for April, I think). Yes, it’s real.

They’re real alright!

I won 3 $100 gift cards to use in the trains.com online store.

Authentic email.

PS the card value is zero so forget about trying to use that code!

mine was from angela cotey

You’re in the money! Congratulations! :tada:

NEVER, EVER click a link in an email without knowing where it will take you. Any decent email app will show you the actual url, usually by hovering your mouse cursor over the link. Hovering like that may not be possible in a mobile app; that’s just another reason to NOT USE your phone to read/view emails! :grimacing: Are you still answering your phone when there is no Caller ID?

Oh my gevo ,people. Firecrown was giving away gift cards to their store. It was well advertised.
