I'm mad at you guys...

You guys are a bad influance on me…
There I was, minding my own business, telling everyone that my layout was finished and that I’d collected all of the locos and rolling stock I could possibly ever want - if some of you might recall. But after reading here on the forum about this guy adding this to his layout, or buying that loco, the desire (addiction) kicked back in, and now I’ve got a long list here in front of me of things I want to buy and do…
I’m going to start off with a Life Like 2-8-8-2 and matching caboose, then add lighted signs to my gas station, put cattle in my stock cars and train crews in my locos and maybe even put in a new station/depot, and it’s all your fault. So one day when you see some poor old broke guy selling news papers at the intersection with a sign hanging around his neck that says “TRACKLAYER”, you’ll have no one to blame but yourselves… ([:p])

Tracklayer

yup , it’s all our fault

i’ll be the guy next to you with the sign … “will work for walthers gift certificates”

Yep. A layout is never done. A layout is never perfect and can always be improved. Funny, we model railroaders are working toward an unattainable goal of completing a layout.

Done being philosophical

Well hoss, the truth is it never ends. I keep thinking I don’t need another thing … but it’s just not true!!! There is always something I want, something New something to go with what I have, what a feeling, a never ending hobby!! Oh yea, “will work for trains”

So what you’re saying in simple terms JPM335 is - completing a layout is futile… If so, I now agree 100%.

Tracklayer

I always makem the LHS owner phisically twist my arm before he rings up my purchases.(works in my mind[:P]

Just don’t get on my intersection. I am already there![:D]

REX

It’s not the destination, but the journey that makes this a great hobby.

How true, Dave. I thought that I would never build another layout, and felt that occasional revisions here and there would suffice to keep if young and fun. WRONG!! Once you decide that the layout is done, or that it has taken all the tweeking that can reasonably be done, layoutplanitis comes back with a vengeance. Just ask me!! [:D]

And I thought I was the only one around here that didn’t have enough passing sidings, LOL!
Tom [:D]

today I just increased my passing siding ratio by 100%!!! got 2 now, so i’m only starting the race! DD

maybe you need some friends who are not model railroaders[bow]

Guilty! as charged

So whatcha gonna do about it…eh?!?

Fergie

so what’s the problem? i’ll just buy a paper from you so you can continue to build…it’s not our fault you fell for the same stuff we did!..[:D]…chuck

He he he… I don’t believe in the concept of a “finished” layout. I’d probably have to tear down and start over from ground up if I ever reached that point - a pretty good reason not to do so.

I watched a model railroading show once and the guy on there said, " If you get to the point where you think your layout finished, you need to find another hobby." Thats why I dont want to finish my layout.

Happy Railroading.[swg][swg]

We’re sorry, we won’t ever do it again! PROMISE!! (we don’t have to any more, you’re hooked)

There’s just too much cool stuff out there, for the layout to ever be done. [:P]

Nick

Ok I never saw the topic, so I will take no blame for this one!

Ever finish a layout! Man, oh, man! I haven’t finished a third of mine and already I’m thinking of rippingit up to start over.[:P][banghead][sigh][:-^]
