I started this a few weeks ago. These pics are from the beginning. I already regret the 4ft span to the corner, but I will have to work with it…but my wife wants to move, so after the nausea, I’ve adjusted my speed.
Hey, good for you, you’re off and running.
Track planning: Based on Atlas Custom Line Layouts, Track Plan 203.
Going to be modified for my left side.
She wants to move soon? Are you going to be able to move the layout when that time comes?
Yes, I’m prepared, there will be no buildings or 3d, just the railroad and I have it so it can be diasassembled. Not gluing the track till I know it’s not moving. My wife wants a house where the laundry is on the first floor and MIL is getting up in years and will be moving in at some point for the remainder of her time on earth. The model train nightmare will be nothing compared to the previous hobbies leftovers, pinball machines, 3d printers, 3d printer building, electronics projects, gun collection, ham radio stuff, vintage stereo equipment, LP collection, jukebox stuff, pieces and parts from HVAC/commercial refrigeration business, etc…Been trying to sell stuff but not happening fast enough. Told her model trains is the last and final hobby because you are never finished. LOL
Liar, liar, pants on fire.
Rich
Early planning for left side of L, extending Track Plan 203.
Runs too close to the edge, so I added another foot- visible in a later pic
Added a piece on the inside corner to make the turn
AS of this morning, before I …Ahem… cough cough…went to Tommy Gilbert’s hobby shop in Gettysburg(turntable)
Does your wife know?
Rich
yeah, she rode along up… had to stop at DQ though, lol
Ooh, love their Strawberry Bostons.
Be thankful for your understanding wife!
Oh, I am very thankful, God gave me a great gift when she found me… I was a mess. I’m still kind of a mess, but her and God are working on me. just passed the 25 year mark on the 17th of March…
TC1961, looking good! At least you have a plan, space (although temporary), and track down. I trust you will get to the train running point before the move. Keep up the good work!
When I bought my 26th GG1 (e bay specials all repaired, repainted and renumbered) my wife asked how many were enough? I told her it wouldn’t be more then 135 because the PRR only had that many. She never asked again.
Home Depot!
I will remember that…It’s funny, because I already have more engines than I need but it’s like I’m a poor man’s car collector. “Lets take this one for a spin, add a few cars, see how long it takes to derail, then find the problem and fix it” most of my derailing issues is from not having my track as secure as I’d like… I want to glue it down, but I’m settling for nails for right now just to keep it from moving after the engines roll across it a few times and it can be pulled up easily. Our friend who’s a real estate agent is coming over this afternoon to discuss what she is looking for (yeah, she). I’m just hoping for an outbuilding or two and a basement I can fix up. Housing market is crazy in my area… we are on the edge of town, looking to get out of town somewhat…ranchers are hard to find with everything on one floor out of town.
