If anybody receives a letter from a company in White City, OR wanting
you to subscribe or renew your Model Railroader subscription from a
place called “Subscription Payment Services” DO NOT respond to
them: IMMEDIATELY call Kalmbach, and give them the information.
They are NOT affiliated with Kalmbach Publishing at all.
Kalmbach has been trying to stop these businesses for quite a while.
Gues you could say that this company, and others like them, are
trying to get business away from Kalmbach. And as far as I know,
these companies DON’T deliver what they say they are going to.
Just thought I’d “put a bee in your bonnet”, so to speak.
I get junk mail at least monthly from one of those subscription services trying to get me to renew a subscription that doesn’t expire for nearly 10 years. Publisher’s something…
I just throw it in the trash. Dealing directly with Kalmbach or other publisher is the only safe way to go.
What is the problem with this service? Take money & run, long running subscription at high price? There are some very reputable subscription services that discount and provide excellent service…
Whenever you get junk mail that has those empty, pre-paid postage envelopes with it, stick the other junk mail in them that you get from other companies. Drop it off in the mailbox.
In just a few days, the company that sent you the junk mail envelope will get it, knowing that they’ve paid for the postage!! Great business for the U.S Postal Service. Nice feeling, isn’t it?!
If EVERYONE did this, then the post office would have no reason to ask for rate increases as they would be making a very nice profit off of these useless letters and flyers!
My Stepdad has worked for the post office for nearly 30 years. The joke around the house used to be that junk mail paid the bills. I forgot what the statistic is, but junk mail is something like 90% of mail.
A friend of mine used to do that with her credit card ads - stick other junk mail in the pre-paid envelope and mail it back. I saw a list once of like 10 thing to do with junk mail, I wish I could locate it, it was pretty funny.
