We are very sorry to have to report the passing of Ron Brown on
October 3, 2010, after a long illness. Ron was the creator, founder,
and editor of Steam in the Garden (SITG) magazine, which began
publication in July of 1990 as a newsletter, and subsequently grew
into a well produced, bimonthly publication. SITG was the only
American periodical dedicated exclusively to the hobby of small
scale, live-steam locomotives. I have known Ron since before SITG
came into being. He was a dedicated hobbyist and a wonderful fellow
who will be sadly missed by all of his friends and readers. We extend
our sincere condolences to his wife Marie and their family on their
