Increase number of time outs while posting

Anyone else getting the “Sorry, there was a problem with your last request!” screen while posting or opening up a thread? I’ve gotten three or four of them today. It’s probably been 3 or more years since I’ve seen that problem here on the forum. I’m guessing the MR server is having some issues?

Tom

I had that happen just a few minutes ago going into another thread. I don’t know if that is isolated to this site or if it’s an internet issue. I’m seeing similar things coming up on other sites I go into.

This is the only site I’m seeing it on, Mark. All other sites are working fine for me. I have high-speed cable internet and it’s usually pretty quick moving from one page to another. On MR though it’s noticeably slower at certain moments.

Tom

I have had it happen to me more than five times today.

I just had it happened again. I couldn’t refresh the page either…had to restart the site to get it to work. I don’t know what to make of it. I have cable broadband at 30M and shouldn’t have speed issues. My going into other sites and seeing similar problems could be my providers connection to the internet. I’ll be talking with a computer geek friend of mine later…and I’ll see what his take is with the problem.

Been getting them here just recently, both while trying to post and / or view threads.

Mark.

Just to see if there is any correlation, I’m using Time Warner Cable…

Tom

I’ve seen some slow stuff today, also. Not just here, but on other sites. I have Verizon.

Maybe it’s the snow?

I’m on Charter since it’s the only service here other than some very expensive wireless. Think the problems here on MR could be slow or buggy servers. My other internet problems are a different animal…I believe. There might be some regional problems. Thinking about it. At work we use internet based tools and they have been troublesome recently…they don’t run on Charter.

I’m waiting for a return call from my friend…he’s the computer geek and an internet junkie.

I have had the “timed out” going on all day as well, off and on. That being said a cable crew showed up this morning and ran a new underground cable from the street into the house (126 feet from the road) They are upgrading the service in the area. Before the upgrade it would take less than a second to load a window even if it was full of photo’s. Now HOLY MOLY the new page is loaded before I can even take my finger of the mouse button.

We also get our phone throught he cable as the phone company wasn’t keeping up pace with the cable company. I just wonder if the new faster cable will make my mother in laws calls pass more quickly.[:-,]

I had one mid-morning, so about 1300 EST, and couldn’t get into a forum at all from the index page three hours later. It seems fine at the moment, Tom.

Edit (four minutes later)…Whoops…spoke too soon. Went into ‘Layouts’ and attempted to enter two discussions, both denied with the blue error message. [:^)]

I had that happen twice today and not only that the whole site was slow, I have an extremely fast PC and no other Forums sites I was on had that problem. For some reason it was only the MRR, site was slow to respond. Just to check it, I run a multi-task and the MR was slow, overall, compared to the others. New Year, new grinch. [:)]

Looks like the bug here helped me figure out some of my other internet problems. Got my ISP coming out tomorrow to replace my cable modem. No surprise. As for this forum…my computer geek friend thinks it’s a neurotic server.

Mark H

[(-D] I’ll go along with that. I got a similar, response from my 39 year old PC wizard Son. [Y]

Server’s got the flu. But…which server? There must be a couple or three in the lineup?
