I thought rail passenger cars had emergency exits.
That happened in India, where I am sure they have none of the mandated safety standards they do in the U. S. I remember riding some very rickety passenger trains when I was a young GI stationed in Korea, I doubt any of them would be allowed on American railroad rights of way!
As long as India allows lax rules for riding off the sides and on the roof, their numbers will climb. Profits trump safety here, hence why India is also a big haven for outsourcing.
