Can anybody provide information on when this flatcar was produed and by whome? It looks like LIONEL but the markings on the bottom are a mystery.
The [}:)] Doctor is in !!! I have a partial answer to your question George. The flat car is
like one I own, I bought from a person on E-bay about 2 years ago. Mine came with 2
K-line wagon kits. The trucks were stamped “made in korea” The box was white with blue lettering. When I find it I can give you more info. My guess is K-Line may have
sub-contracted these cars, but don’t take that as final. The trucks look like K-Line freight
trucks tho. I will let you know when I find the box it came in.
Till My Next Missive, I Remain The Humble, Yet Strangly [}:)] Doctor !!!
Thanks for the update Dr. Fu-Manchu. I have little dought that this flatcar came out of a 6424 mold, but the markings on the bottom have me stumped. I too have bought some of those K-line circus wagon kits, to put on this curious flatcar.
All,
somebody out there must know the history of this car??
George
This car is a product of Bob Geller, Model Train Sales Incorporated. He is the same fellow who reproduced the Lionel Submarines, 2046W, 6026W and 2466W tender shells, as well as a host of other items. (6407 rocket, military loads). I appears that he was reproducing so many loads it was natural for him to do flat cars as well. He does have a website, but I don’t have the URL handy.
Hope this helps,
David Doyle
Thanks a Million!
This is the information I was looking for.
Geller Toy Trains has a really cool site, worth a look.
