Inside Rivarossi's classic ball bearing motor

If you ever wanted to know what’s inside and how it all works, here you go! I actually recorded this a while ago but wanted to finish the F unit comparison first. :grinning:

(BTW, does the new forum have a video embedding function? EDIT: Oh hey, it did it automatically!)

Thanks Darth! I never realized that the noise from these motors came from the ball bearings. It makes it more forgiving…

Aren’t those ball bearings supposed to be run with a small drop of motor oil, rather than dry?

I put grease into the bearings, so they’re not running dry.

Strange that they are making that noise. Just for grins, put a little drop of something like 3–in-1 or 30W in each bearing along with the grease and see if the noise improves any.
