Interesting discovery... now I'm looking for 44" drivers...

When I was in highschool (that’s 10+ years ago) I had set out to build a little steam locomotive from plans published in MR… The project fell on the wayside, went to college blah blah blah…

Yesterday evening while sorting out some paperwork I stumbled upon 2 filled out order forms for that project… All parts neatly listed with price and all ready to go, I just never sent it out!!! So I checked Walthers.com today, almost everyting is there, I’m even surprised that the prices did’nt go up as much as I expected!!

The only glitch is that I had 3 sets of Precision Investment Associates 44" drivers listed and I can’t seem to fin them. Are they still in business?? I’ll have to look in the magazine again to remember what they looked like. I’ll also scan the old catalog page where I got them if it can give anyone a clue.

Precision investment associates is still in business. Here’s the link:

Here is another source for drivers, but they don’t go down to 44"

Wow! great news!! Thanks for the help guys. I’ll keep you posted on what happens with this. I don’t really have space for a layout right now, but scratchbuilding stuff is a great way for me to get back in the saddle.

Edit BTW, I just checked their part list, turns out that I never found 44" drivers at the time, so I planned on using PIA’s 45" trailing truck wheels and putting on crankpin bosses and counterweights on them.

Nothing like a scratchbuilt coal conveyor to let you know you’ve done something. Been there, done that. Wish I still had it.
