Is anyone going to the Great Train Expo in Collinsville, IL this weekend??

I will be there, at least Sat.

I’m going

Too far for me! I did just find out that here in Tn. on Dec. 13, there having a train show AND the Christmas train is coming to town. Two hours away from each other in opposite direction!!![banghead]
Decisions, decisions…

Frist Saturday off in 3 year, and now I find there is a train show with in 5 miles?[:D] Just need to find someway to get away from the wife!

Cuda Ken

PS, like I need anything.

Didn’t know anything about it; can’t do anything until after supper tomorrow night but if I get started then and drive all night I should kill myself outside Springfield, Missouri late Friday evening!

Wow!

The Great Train Expo in Il. Will have to miss that one with all of the expensive junk there. I hope that you could find other trainshows other than this one to go to. Kevin

Loathar, Which train show are you talking about in TN? And speaking of the Amish Country in Eastern TN, I intend to model one of those cantilever barns that was common to your area in the 1800’s and introduce it to the northern California area in the early 1900’s where I model. Peter Smith, Memphis ( Still trying to separate paragraphs)

The 13th is the Toy Train show at the State Fairgrounds. That one tends to be a smallish one with local dealers.

Jan 10-11 the GTE comes to the Nashville Auditorium

Feb 14-15 the WGH comes to the Nashville Convention Center

Don’t forget most every weekday to ride the Music City Star
(On Sundays when the Titans are home ride the Titan Express)

Go Titans! 11-1! Poor Lions 0-12. Final Titans 47 Lions 10

I might make it on Saturday. Originally planned to go both days, but a friend invited me to the Rams game on Sunday. Not that the Rams are any more entertaining, or less expensive, than the train show! Much as I hate to say it, I think I’d rather go to an Arizona Cardinals game. They USED to be the St. Louis Cardinals, ya know. And they’ve got Kurt Warner at quarterback. Still on of the top rated QB’s in football. Mike Martz didn’t know his arse from a hole in the ground when he dumped Warner!

If I make it to the train show, I’ll walk past the layout exhibits and then spend some time wandering around the seller’s tables. I’m not looking to buy anything (God know, I don’t NEED anything!), but you never know when a bargain might jump out at you. I usually take my grandsons along, but the older ones aren’t really interested anymore and the younger ones are visiting relatives in Florida, so it’ll just be my and my wallet. LOL

Darrell, quiet…for now

In 2001 during the NMRA national convention I made a suggestion to a “native” that they would certainly be welcome to take the Cardinals back allowing us out here in Arizona to bid for an expansion team; I was informed that if I didn’t want to get run out of town on a rail I would be wise to refrain from such inflamatory suggestions. You–or anyone else for that matter–can have the Cardinals anytime your Masochistic tendencies flare up.

Yeah, Here’s a link to the Dec 13 one.

The guys in The Music City Toy Train Chapter said they were expecting about 100 vendors this year.
The guys at Southbound Trains said they might hold their show this summer.(the one that was usually the first week in Dec. at The Factory in Franklin Tn.) They said it didn’t make sense to have 2 shows a week apart in the same city.

Thanks about your link about the Southbound Show. They lost their site at The Factory in Franklin when some church moved in & leased the space all day Sunday.

The new site in Lebanon will take some time to get going. Last year the TCMry operated one of their excursion trains to Lebanon. They really need to use it to promote the Music City Star.

BTW the Battle of Franklin has shifted to Columbia Ave & the Carter House.
S/b a parade & ceremony close to Ground Zero. I may need to check how close this gets to southbound.

I don’t know if they’re gonna use the Lebanon site again. One of the owners told me the turnout wasn’t very good last year and they might come up with a new game plan for the summer show.
