Hey all 
So, a friend of mine told me Kato is about to announce/release an SD 70 ACe. I find this highly unlikely since they just redid the SD 40-2. Does anyone know if this is going to happen or not?

Unless this friend of yours is the owner or is in a very high position within the Kato corporate structure, I wouldn’t give him or her any money for their opinion. Rumors like this float around all the time about various manufacturers and products.
Kinda like that rumor I heard about Athearn releasing an FP7/9. Guess that just wasn’t true…

Didn’t Tower 55 just show a HO scale SD 70 ACe at Trainfest?
Maybe it’s just a confusion about who’s relaeasing what?
I’ll take a Kato SD70ACe! It will definatly be cheaper than the T55 version…

you know what might be fun… if someone produced a model of the proposed ACE steam project loco. It never became reality but would be great fun for modelers for a modern steam loco that would be prototypical for modern themed layouts.
But Tower 55 has DCC and sound, and most Kato still doesn’t. What ever happened to the Kato Kobo locomotives? They were supposed to come with the exact same sound decoder that Tower 55 is using – a Digitrax Sound FX.
