Is this Amurican?

Just purusing the Model Railroader for Sept. 2010 and happened to look at the ad for ExactRail advertising the PS Waffle Box car, and noticed the wording for the first time. “From the way we release to our passion for freight cars, ExactRail is like no other. The results are yours to enjoy.”

Now in my part of America, no one talks like that. My question is has ExactRail completely turned their company over to a foreign company? It makes me wonder, also makes me not to purchase their products.

Bob

Who cares? If it is a quality product at a fair price, who cares how they word their adverts? David B

This sounds more like an edit job trying to fit a lot of thoughts into few words, probably to fit the ad space or avoid overloading it with written text that will get ignored.

Enjoy

Paul

Seriously? This would cause you to boycott the company? You’ve got to be kidding.

There’s nothing wrong with that sentence; it’s totally grammatically correct, and not that unusual for ad copy. It’s a little more formal than casual conversation, that’s all.

I would guess a hazard for a being of time.

Were it company other, we disagree could not.

Assemble the A part against into the part of slot B tab.

Remember to first to apply the glue on a screw G to hold notch.

So it goes with foreign interpretations of the USA English language for instructions! They COULD have been taken over by a foreign company, could have a foreign writer who is not “English sufficient”, or what ever! I have found many instructions to be very humorous over the years for all things “some assembly required” from foreign countries!

I actually found nothing objectionable in the phrase you presented.

And as mentioned, if the product is great, and can be understood to be assembled well, or is assembled well, does it matter? We already know the major portion of our products are from foreign origins, where English is a second or third language, so why not just “go with the flow”?

Boycott ExactRail due to the wording of their ad? No, just silly.

The fact that they went direct sales only, with no discounts, that could be a legit reason to boycott.

BTW, September 2010 MR? Guess you have a backlog of MRs to work thru - this story is certainly not “Breaking”

Why do I get the feeling that this thread will eventually end up in the dumper?..

Yup! [(-D]

Not to be too critical Bob but you have a couple of errors in your post [;)]. I’m not surprised at the syntax of the ad. Just look at some of the online news blurbs, many times they have one to several glaring errors and they are written by supposedly educated American journalists.

Joe

Well, I boycott them because of their prices. But that is another topic worthy of the dancing padlock man. [(-D]

[:#]Biting tongue!!!.. Biting tongue!!!.. Biting tongue!!!..[:#]

I can’t hold on much longer… Heeeeelp me, please!!!

Much adieu about nothing! Not to throw flames, but if this is all the OP has to worry about, he is a VERY lucky fellow! I’m jealous.

Nobody talks like that anywhere. It’s ad copy.

I personally know people who work for ExactRail. The speculation about their ownership is unfounded and I’ll leave it at that.

Bob, you’ve made an issue of your dislike for ExactRail’s current business model on multiple occasions, such as:

Perhaps your feelings about the company’s changes made you look for a deeper meaning in an ad that probably doesn’t have any.

I would buy from the devil himself, speaking in tongues if he offered me a good quality D&RGW K-28 with fine detail and DCC with sound at the right price. Product, quality and price. Nothing is more capitalistic and “Americun” than that!

Richard

Its just super-flowery language.

“pastor” bob,

ExactRail is a great company that makes some of the best cars on the market and their service is outstanding.

What is it that offends or that trips you up, Bob? Is it the word “release”? In the plastic molding business, how the cooled shell is released from the mold is important. Sometimes they get mangled, broken, chipped, or they sag due to insufficient cooling time. The rest of the construction is just fine.

Crandell

Because you’re remarkably presicent. [:#]
