Hi everyone!
First time for me here on this forum and I’m not in the USA…
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I’m a subscriber for more than 20 years now, and I collected each and every copy of the magazine since than…
I did not received the last two issues (OCT-NOV) of the magazine and asked the customer service for a reissue/re-ship…
BUT, they said that the PRINTED COPY of the magazine will no longer be shipped abroad, outside the USA…
BUT, I also have a three years subscription that is still going and I paid for the printed copy, not for the digital one…
So, now of course I don’t know what else I can do to have at least some of my money back…
Unfortunately this decision will STOP my collection and my next new subscription too…
I don’t know if someone else in this forum is experiencing this kind of problem but I also ask you, is this legal?
Do we have any right as subscriber to a magazine?
Let me know
Ciao
I heard the same concern from a friend in Canada last week.
PM Craig (freightalley) to get the full story about this.
I would be curious why Firecrown would cease shipping magazines abroad especially in the middle of a subscription.
Well they said that the reason was for the amount of complain people had not receiving their copy…
In the past when for some reason I did not receive my printed copy I let it know to the customer service and they will resend the missing/lost copy to me…
Of course this is a cost for the editor and this is why they stopped the shipping of printed copy abroad, at least this is what they told me…
Ciao
I think Firecrown has streamlined the operation (that is they cut staff) so they don’t have anyone to deal with missing out of country issues.
I would certainly ask for a refund for your remaining issues - but that’s probably as far as any rights go.
Otherwise check your local news stands / bookstores and see if they carry MR. I know in the U.S. some foreign publications are carried in big bookstores.
Good luck
I can buy copies here in the U.K., from my local book/magazine store.
Yes, and that is exactly what I did, ask for a refund…
Of course I’ve never received an answer,at least, not the refund itself…
Anyway that is only to let you know what kind of people we are dealing with…
And, YES, I can buy the printed copy of the magazine somewhere here in my country but it will be so expensive that I could not aford to do it…
It seems like they should continue to ship them to fulfill existing subscriptions, maybe with an announcement that they will not replace issues that go missing enroute.

When it was Kalmbach the contract was via Quad Graphics in Wisconsin and they actually did the printing and shipping, I believe via their Sussex, WI plant. I don’t think Firecrown does anything other then send the electronic content to the plant. That is how Kalmbach ran it.
Plant is supplied by rail (CN). My guess is it might have something to do with tariffs on magazine paper or possibly ink? Just a guess though.
Well latest news are…Firecrown will send me the last two MR issues OCT and NOV and then will STOP any other shippment… They also offer me a refund, but they did not tell me the amount or any other detail…
So I’m NOT HAPPY but at least I will end this year 2025 with almost all the magazine issues…
Unfortunately my 20 PLUS year collection will soon be dead…forever…This makes me sad!
Big thank you to ALL of you that took part to this topic and have good luck!
CIAO!
It’s a simple word that’s on the lips of many Americans these days but nobody wants to say it because of the ruckus it will start.
So I’ll say it…
Tariffs
But tariffs are for goods coming into a country, not going out.

Not due to tariffs.
Many times the magazines were sent to certain foreign countries where, for whatever reasons, the magazines were not delivered in a timely manner or not delivered at all.
Kalmbach, and now Firecrown, had to then make up the service by resending the issues or making refunds. It probably wasn’t worth the hassle.
Tariffs can be import or export.
Also other countries can impose their own tariff in reaction to ours.
But I think in this case there isn’t enough print sales to justify the hassle, especially since digital is available.

Paul
The U.S., via the Constitution, prohibits export tariffs.

These days everything is questionable.
A brief follow up to the question…
They reached to me and said that they are sorry BUT they can NOT send me the printed copy anymore…
So they only offer me a refund…
VERY BAD!
It seems that one hand don’t know what is doing the other one…
At this point I’m very disappointed!
Hope this will help someone in the future before subscribing t the magazine!
CIAO!
I’m not sure why this is stated. They said they are giving you a refund, and that’s what they are doing.
They’ve made a corporate decision to stop the expense of mailing magazines to other countries. In these days of struggling profits for printed magazines, that seems to be a business decision.
Printed magazines are just a shadow of what they used to be. Many are just digital now.
Because a week ago they offered me to send the printed copy that I was missing!
That is why I stated that!
Easy!
Now it looks like that someone (The BIG Boss, maybe?) changed his mind and they back tracked…
Sorry. I didn’t realize they were not going to send you issues they had promised. I thought they were not going to send you future copies.
