Does anyone know whether or not the Union Pacific is hiring experienced Trainmen from other railroads and offering a signing bonus to those that want to come and work for the UP? If there is any truth to this, who at UP would be the person to contact?

UP is indeed still hiring trainmen at various locations around the system, and they are quite willing to hire experienced trainmen, however you will still have to complete all the classes just like a new hire. As for any bonuses, I don’t believe they are offering any bonuses at the present time, although that is always subject to change. To check for job openings go to their website www.uprr.com and click on employment or jobs at UP (I don’t remember which one it is for non employees). Follow the links and it will give a listing of all currently advertised positions by location. Hope this helps.
